I am writing this report to warn others about a disappointing and unethical experience with Shown.io, an advertising platform that engages in questionable business practices. Here are the details of my case:
- Unauthorized Charges Without Confirming Amount
Upon submitting my first campaign, my card was charged without any confirmation of the amount. I expected transparency, but instead, the charge was immediate and automatic. - Refusal to Approve Campaigns Without Valid Reason
My first campaign was rejected because they claimed my site contained "illegal content." I run a web hosting business, which is a legitimate and lawful service. They did not provide any clarification on how web hosting could be considered illegal.
I also created a campaign for my second business selling social media services, but it was similarly rejected after one day. - Repeated Charges Without Service Delivery
If you try to create another campaign, Shown.io will charge your card again before approving the campaign. Then, after a delay, they will reject the campaign. This is a repeated cycle designed to profit without providing any actual service. - Unethical Subscription Activation
After these rejections, I requested a refund. Instead of honoring my request, Shown.io activated a subscription on my account without my consent—even though I had no active campaigns. This subscription activation appears to serve no purpose other than to justify additional charges to my card.
